Patterns Outside

This afternoon we went outside to look at any patterns that we could find. We took iPads with us to take photos of them. Here is what we made:

Strike Percussion

On Friday last week, we went to the hall to watch a drum band called Strike Percussion. Their names were: Biscuits, Mufasa and Tim the Tool Man Taylor. They played the drums.

Then they tried to make it rain.  They played a song using the marimba.

Next Mrs Tollestrup and Miss Taylor went up on the stage and did some mean songs. It was amazing.

After that, Sini went up on the stage and played a song on the Cook Island drums. Can you see him?

They got tired and they were thirsty so they made music with the drink cans.

Finally they made music with fire.

My favourite part was the fire (Nari). My favourite part was Biscuits playing the marimba (Essence). My favourite part was when they were playing with the drinks (Vaueli).

Puppet Discovery

Today we made puppets in Discovery Time. The puppets were funny so we were using our Habit of Mind, That's Funny! We also used Stop and Think because stopped and thought about what we wanted to make before we started. Have a look and read about what some of us did during Discovery below:

Koru Patterns

Today we made Koru patterns. They look like waves or plants. Some are skinny and some are thin. First we used a pen to draw the pattern. We looked at the paper so we could see what to do. There was already three different Koru patterns on the page. Then we coloured it in neatly, with no white spots and we made sure it was dark. Have a look at some of the patterns we did:

Ten people like the Bee Bots. Two people like the numbers monkey. Six people like the lego. One person likes books. No one likes to use the lids or the hammers and nails.
