Monkey Orchestra
On Monday morning the Monkey Orchestra made two beats. The boys played the first beat and the girls played the second beat. The first beat was "Mmm mmm sweets and lollies, mmm mmm chocolate too!" and the girls did "I like food, I like food lots and lots!" After we practiced we played the beat with the instruments. Have a look at a video of this:

Rhythm Interactive
We went to the hall and we had some drums to drum with. Lucy and Johnny played the drums for us. They showed us how to drum. We copied them. They said: "If you can say it then you can play it." The things they had us say were: "I like drums, I like drums, I like drums, drums, drums," and "Yes I like it very, very much." They played us a solo song. He was playing a harmonica, too. It sounded like a train. At the end, they used a magic box. Some children got to sing on the stage. Have a look at the videos of this:

The Monkey Orchestra
Today we started a Monkey Orchestra. First we picked instruments and then we made a beat. Then we made a musical score so we didn't forget whose turn it is to play. We used creating and innovating to create a beat and we used stop and think because we stopped and thought before we started.
Here is our musical score:

Strike Percussion
On Friday last week, we went to the hall to watch a drum band called Strike Percussion. Their names were: Biscuits, Mufasa and Tim the Tool Man Taylor. They played the drums.
Then they tried to make it rain. They played a song using the marimba.
Next Mrs Tollestrup and Miss Taylor went up on the stage and did some mean songs. It was amazing.
After that, Sini went up on the stage and played a song on the Cook Island drums. Can you see him?
They got tired and they were thirsty so they made music with the drink cans.
Finally they made music with fire.
My favourite part was the fire (Nari). My favourite part was Biscuits playing the marimba (Essence). My favourite part was when they were playing with the drinks (Vaueli).

Pasifika
Last Friday we went to our cultural groups again. Mr Davidson is in the Pasifika group and he took some videos of the song and the sasa we're learning. Have a look at how good we've become. We have a guitar and a drum playing with us!
